Winter has taken a temporary break here on the south shore of Long Island. It feels down-right balmy at 37Β°. When the sun shines, I can write in the sunroom. Dare I hope that spring is on the horizon?
I do dare to hold great hope that a cure for metastatic breast cancer (MBC) is on the horizon. Each year, 200,000 Americans are diagnosed with breast cancer. Six to ten percent of these diagnoses are metastatic. Another 30% who were treated for early-stage breast cancer, like me, develop Stage IVβMBC. Β Today, MBC is managed, not cured.
Today, the cancer within me grows slowly. Treatment is not too debilitating or disruptive. I can live my life without the cancer showing. This is possible only because of science and research. It has been a daunting struggle since an estimated 2-5% of the funds raised for breast cancer research is spent on studies of metastasis.
In the spirit of Paying-It-Forward, I propose aΒ Get-n-GivingΒ campaign. I have 60Β Hug Everyone You KnowΒ books in my dining room.Β GetΒ a personally signed copyΒ ofΒ Hug Everyone You KnowΒ and a page hugger for $16.95. Five dollars of your purchase will beΒ givenΒ toΒ METAvivor.Β METAvivorΒ is the only organization that solely funds MBC research through a scientific peer-review process.Β Also, 100% of all donations and fundraiser proceeds go into MBC research grants.
I will ship your book(s) anywhere in the continental United States. Not only will you and/or your special everyoneΒ getΒ a terrific book, you will beΒ givingΒ to a great hope. Click on the
Β button on the sidebar. You can securely order via credit card or PayPal account.
Be well, My Everyone. Hug-filled love and thanks to all.
