Good morning, Everyone, from Hilton Head Island.
It seems like I have not stayed put in one place for a long while. Husband Matt and I spent a glorious week boating on the BVI Caribbean waters. As mentioned in previous posts, this was a nostalgic trip. Between several families, we bareboat chartered five BIG motor cats and met up with each other in favorite coves and bays. The days were filled with sunshine, snorkeling adventures, beach time fun, laughs and good eating.
Once we made it home, passing all of the COVID protocols to re-enter the states, I tackled the laundry and packed the car for a one-month stay on Hilton Head Island near the grandkids (and daughter and son-in-law). It’s a two-day drive. We just escaped the big blizzard blanketing Long Island as I type.
Now that we are here in the condo, almost unpacked, got my grandkids hugs and kisses, we will climb back into a strategically packed car for a three day Disney trip, then visit my mom in Fort Pierce Florida. I hope after next week, I can sit still for a more than day or so.
In the meantime, a quick story about my sunrise on the beach pictures. I am usually up early, although after a two-day drive, my head may have been groggy. I checked the Weather Channel for morning temp and sunrise time. Wow, 75°, calm winds and sunrise at 6:52 am. Imagine my surprise at the blast of cold (30°) and darkness when I set out for the one block walk to the beach. In my stupor, I blamed overcast skies.
I walked onto a deserted beach—not a fellow walker, sunrise worshiper, or bird in sight. The wind blew at a gale force and the sun barely stained the horizon. I checked the app. Crum!! It was set on Tortola BVI time! Of course it is a gorgeous 75° with calm winds and clear skies to backdrop an incredible sunrise. In the end, I took a few pictures of the crack of almost dawn on a freezing cold beach. Enjoy.
Stay safe, My Everyone!
