Good morning, Everyone. I am melting in these sultry hot days on HHI. It is worth it since I am visiting my grandkids, daughter, and son-in-law for five days. My granddaughter is between school and her summer program, so I came to fill the gap. We’ve filled the hot days with dips in the pool, hikes in the “jungle”, beaching, putt-putt golfing, and preparing epic PBJs and fried eggplant. It’s been a great yet exhausting week. Mission accomplished. Grab your coffee. Let’s catch up.
If we were having coffee together, I would tell you it was a bittersweet Father’s Day last week. The first year of holidays, birthdays, Sundays, and special occasions without my dad leaves deep, empty gaps. The now-normal does not yet feel “normal”. However, it was a nice day to spend in the backyard with everyone. Dad was with us in the company, conversation and view.
If we were having coffee together, I would announce that I scheduled an actual LIVE book event! The Beach Book Signing and raffle will be held at Davis Park, Fire Island on July 10th. The post mistress, Linda Firpo, graciously offered for me to set up a table to meet readers and sign books next to the Post Office. Ten percent of the proceeds go to the Davis Park Fire Department. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by the Post Office. I will chat about books, take pics of my fans (with permission of course), sign books, and, at 2:00, raffle one of each book (Daily Bread, Becoming America’s Food Stories, and Hug Everyone You Know). It’s going to be a great day!

If we were having coffee together, I would report that I contracted Penny Weber, artist extraordinaire, to illustrate a new cover for Daily Bread and Book 2. Daily Bread will be re-released in August-ish with a fresh cover and new (search-worthy) title. How do you like The Heart of Bakers and Artists? Book 2 has a final title (drum roll) The Dreams of Singers and Sluggers. Stay tuned for cover reveals and launch dates.
If we were having coffee together, I would add other writing news. I posted Telling the Stories this week. You can find it here. If you would like to keep up with my crazy writing life, sign up for Stories Served Around The Table News to Nosh and download two FREE recipes cards from Becoming America’s Food Stories! You can do that right here.
That’s about it. Thanks for indulging me. Great big thank you to Natalie the Explorer, the incredible host of Weekend Coffee Share.
Be kind. Be safe.
Have a great week, Everyone. Make it funtastic.

This past week, we noted that several businesses have dropped or relaxed the mask requirement and next week our church goes back indoors. This was all good stuff, but then today I see that you’ve scheduled a LIVE BOOK EVENT! Yea for you Antoinette. What a wonderful way to celebrate the arrival of summer. So, you’re bringing it to California and Sonoma County when. . . ?

SO happy to hear about your live book event!! That will be so nice after all we’ve been through! Such great photos with your family.. ❤ Yes, Father's Day was rough for us too, but I do believe both mine and Bill's dads were with us in spirit as they always are. Thank you for sharing and have a great week!
