Good Morning, Everyone. I am sipping bold black coffee while writing. Join in me in my rambling.
If we were having coffee together, I would tell you that there are only five weeks until the summer break (YEAH!), but it is gonna be a whirlwind. “Kindergarten is so much fun, and there is ALWAYS so many things to done.”
Now that the days are longer, I come home to a list of outside chores to add to my afternoon shopping, tidying, and dinner prep scramble. I also started a commitment to the gym. My strength and stamina had been sapped from the winter doldrums.
One could suggest that I should plan better, but that calls for organization (not my skill set). The cleaning had gotten away from me. My husband, Matt, had planned to spend the weekend tinkering on the boats. We are selling the powerboat, and the catboat may get in its boat slip by early June. We haven’t uncovered the Sunfish or Hobie yet.
The house cleaning is up to me. Yesterday was the day to dust the layers off horizontal surfaces and mop the floors. But first, I needed to tackle the garage. A container of dirty boat oil had leaked in a corner last week. Matt and I wiped down the neighboring gas cans and sopped up what we could with rags. The remainder was covered with a layer of kitty litter which thankfully did not confuse the cat. The extra dirt traffic into the house nagged me all week.
If I was going to clean the house floors, I first needed to clean the oil spill, which, in turn, distracted me to sweep the garage floor. I filled a trash bag.
Since spring invites windows to remain open, screens need to be hauled from the attic and washed. There is satisfaction in letting a cool spring breeze fill a cleaned house. The sunroom has eight long windows. If I wanted to get the screens in, I first had to clean under the wicker furniture, trim the plants, and oh my, the wood-paneled walls were filthy! Out went the furniture, plants, and all else that hung on the walls. I filled the lawn fertilizer sprayer with a bleach concoction, sprayed the walls then scrubbed and rinsed it all down with the garden hose. Since the stripped sunroom had a two-inch puddle of water in it, I washed and sprayed down the eight long windows. The shop vac sucked up the water (there was a detour to get the vac clean out since Matt had been sanding and varnishing boat parts all last week).
If we were having coffee together, I would tell you that today, Sunday, I will put the furniture and plants back in the sunroom and hang the wall decor on the sparkling walls. I still have to wash screens, which means cleaning the rest of the windows, then I could get the house floors done, although there is laundry waiting and food shopping to do, and Matt will need a hand, and I wanted to see my parents today.
But first, I need another coffee.
As always, BIG THANK YOUs go out to, Eclectic Alli for managing Weekend Coffee Share.
Have a good week, Everyone. Make it great!

Good morning Antoinette, I am also on my second cup of coffee, enjoying the time to catch up on reading blogs. Your post reminds me how the dust is always more visible when the sun shines in. You have motivated me to do some Spring Cleaning. Possibly….after my coffee and reading🙂Enjoy your Sunday:) Erica

That sun room in the last photo looks fabulous! I Bet you’re excited for summer break. My daughter’s summer break starts this Thursday. She is very happy about that! She’s been working so hard, changing schools after Christmas. The school she’s been going to this last semester was much further along, than the previous one. I hope you had a great weekend, and that this new week started out in the best possible way for you!
