November came and went. Perhaps it is because of short daylight hours, or the blustery wind that strips the leaves off trees, reminding me I need to wear a jacket and shoes outside. The boats are tucked in the yard so that the bay and the beach are more than a quick boat ride away. My lists of holiday to-dos and late autumn chores fill a yellow notepad and the backs of used envelopes.
But I do like this chaotic time of year. The cooking, attempts at baking, and simple crafts fill my happy-things-to-do lists. I include visiting and preparing for a houseful of family high on that cheery list. Housekeeping and raking leaves go on the side of don’t-like-to-do-but-have-to-find-a-way-to-get-them-done.
Do you have a list? How do you keep track? Do you use an app, or are you scribbling on notepads or scraps of paper?
The highlighted reminder to write-my-newsletter stares back at me. Let me catch you up on what is happening.

Introducing My Latest Project

The Journal On Prompt Boards challenge is my latest project. I set it up in a Tic-Tac-Toe array and it features a sampling of national monthly and daily celebrations-some more absurd than others. I invite you to take on the December challenge, adding to your happy list of to-dos. Choose three prompts in a box row, or your favorites, or all of them. Please let me know your thoughts and impressions.
I Have A Gift for You
The holidays are coming and I have a gift for you!
I have always said that meeting story-loving children, teachers, librarians, and parents is the BEST part of being a children’s book author.

I had the pleasure of visiting two schools last week. I read Famous Seaweed Soup to children in the Riverhead Head Start. I also visited a local 6th grade class, read a chapter from The Heart of Bakers and Artists and discussed my writer journey. As a GIFT from me to you, I am offering a FREE virtual Author Reading to you and your students. Choose from my picture book, Famous Seaweed Soup, or a chapter in one of the Becoming America’s Stories books: The Heart of Bakers and Artists, The Dreams of Singers and Sluggers, or The Wishes of Sisters and Strangers.I will also present my writer’s journey and inspiration of your chosen book. I can’t wait to meet you and your students!
Fill out the Google form for more information.
HURRY!
The offer runs from November 1st to December 22nd
**Live visits are available for Long Island, NY schools.
