Good Morning, Everyone.
It’s a cloudy Super Bowl Sunday on Hilton Head Island. Chilly, too, but it is February.
I have been writing. The third and final book in my Becoming America’s Stories is slowly taking shape. Writing historical fiction involves a good deal of research and the rabbit holes are deep and full of mazes (love it). I also find it tricky to include needed character and setting backgrounds from the previous books without info dumping and bogging down the reader.
It has been fun spending time with the grandkids. As I write, they are still sleeping. We had a crazy sleepover Saturday night and planned on a traditional Junk-Food Pancake Breakfast. I’m hoping the rain holds off so they can run off the sugar high at the beach or park. And then the final football game is on tonight.

You can also download the recipe to Mrs. Goldberg’s Knot Surprises, HERE. Mrs. Goldberg,the dotty baker in The Heart of Bakers and Artists, tied leftover bread dough into a knot and added a dollop of jam or a small chunk of cheese. She gave them away to children who delighted in the special treat.
That’s it, Everyone. Dawn is cracking and Junk-Food Pancakes won’t cook themselves.

Hi Antoinette, glad you made it to the weekend coffee share.
If we could sit down to share a real cup, perhaps from the deck of some balcony overlooking the Atlantic (which would be a real treat for me) I would almost certainly try to nudge you into talking about creating historical fiction.
I love reading it and the few times I’ve dabbled in writing it were wonderful. I like the research and the puzzle of assembling the pieces into a string of words that overlays a compelling story on top of real historical facts.
As a reader, i learn most readily by following well written characters through real events just as I learn real science by well told hard science fiction stories. The value of learning is so compatible with the value I place in having well written words going through my brain.
I think we’d have a great chat – and I’d walk away much the wiser.
