Good Morning, Everyone.
It is a crisp February morning, but I got up and out to snap sunrise over the ocean pictures this morning.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that Matt and I are packing up the apartment and getting ready to drive back home to Long Island. Hilton Head Island has been a lot of fun being with the grandkids (and my daughter and son-in-law too), exploring new places, and eating great food. Hilton Head is a foodie’s mecca! She Crab Soup and Bloody Marys are amazing here. Biking just for fun and walking the beach are our new winter sport. We will definitely think about doing this again next year.
If we were having coffee together, I would explain that I have been absent from my blog, the Weekend Coffee Share, and Facebook these past few weeks. Writing non-social media content is the big reason. I finished phase one of editing Daily Bread and need it to simmer down. I have a writer friend reading my manuscript, making sure it tells a story. I want to peddle the story to agents and publishers, so composing a brief story synopsis (500 words), a briefer pitch, and the body of a query letter has also buried me. How do prolific writers do this? My process is so slow and labored, and I am easily distracted by anything that moves and talks. I have also been reading a lot of how-tos on acquiring agents, writing synopsis, and query letters, and being patient. Query tracker is my new discovery and just may keep me organized (HA!).
If we were having coffee together, I would admitt that I am sad to have to leave my kids, yet look forward to getting back home even though home has a pile of house and yard chores, a mean cat, and taxes waiting for me to tackle. The I-Got-To-Do list grows steadily and I am not home,yet! But I do miss my posse of friends and family. We have our annual Chowda’ and Sweet Treat Cook-Off to host next week, and there are birthday celebrations, events, and gatherings to enjoy—and there are always writing projects to finish.

Hello Antoinette. I’ve tried to learn the path you are on regarding getting an agent and publisher. My bet is that it is something of a hurtle that, once breached, leaves the next trip down the path easier because you are now known the “system”.
It still suffers from the supply and demand mismatch; more writers wanting to write than there are readers ready to pay and read. So it’s a tough process to get through. Please keep us posted.
