Happy Thanksgiving 2018

Happy Thanksgiving, My Everyone. The day dawn crisp and very cold with light winds–a perfect scenario for Thanksgiving Day. I am up early picking up where I left off last night in prepping the big meal.

Love this holiday. It is all about gathering around the table with people I love, enjoying favorite foods, and exclaiming the multitudes of blessings.

I am hosting my in-law family. Matt’s sister and family traveled from Oklahoma. We will be ten at the table, which is relatively small. Later today we will join my family at my parents’ nearby house for pie and coffee.

My menu is fluid. Matt is grilling the bird so there is plenty of room in the oven for sides. I like to try different recipes. This year I am channeling Ina Garten and cooking her twice baked sweet potato recipe. I have a wild rice stuffing to satisfy my daughter’s gluten, dairy, and meat-free diet.  It is a family tradition to present a macaroni dish. Not pasta, it is macaroni. I made manicotti, from scratch, I must add. I negotiated with my non-Italain in-law family to serve the manicotti as an appetizer. It is lighter than lasagna and should not spoil appetites for the turkey, potatoes, and brussel sprouts.

Enjoy the day, Everyone.
